Mãos ao alto! / Hands up!

É um ninja? É um ladrão?
Não... É o 'facekini', a nova bizarrice dos verões chineses!

Como eu já falei antes, as chinesas (e as asiáticas em geral) odeiam sol. É só fazer sol que você ve todas elas usando guarda chuva na rua, jornal, o que seja pra se proteger deste grande monstro que nos invade todos os dias... Eu, por outro lado, adoro aproveitar um solzinho, ainda mais depois de passar o dia inteiro no ar condicionado gelado lá do trabalho!

Claro que sol em exagero faz mal, e eu também não sou fã dos biquinis fio dental que as brasileiras usam (eca!). Mas esses 'facekinis' levam tudo a um nível de esqusitice muito mais alto. Nas praias aqui de Hong Kong muitas mulheres nadam de bermuda e camisa, tanto para esconder as partes indecentes, quanto para se proteger do sol. Mas eu levei um susto quando eu vi uma vez duas mulheres com o facekini, ali na água mesmo! É realmente bizarro e deve ser super desconfortavel! Parece mesmo que são uns ladrões que resolveram dar um pulinho no mar depois de roubar o banco ou algo assim, haha!

Aparentemente essa moda teve início no México, hahaha! / Apparently this trend started in Mexico, hahaha!

A idéia por trás disso é que nessas partes do mundo, pele bronzeada está relacionada à pobreza e aos camponeses que passam todo o dia trabalhando no sol, em contraste aos ricos que podem se dar ao luxo de ficar na sombra. Talvez até para não se parecerem tanto com seus vizinhos tailandeses e filipinos que já tem a pele naturalmente mais morena e aqui em Hong Kong infelizmente são vistos com certa 'inferioridade' pela população local.

Taí mais um exemplo de como a sociedade chinesa valoriza algumas coisas completamente diferentes da brasileira! Infelizmente o verão já está acabando, então não será possível ver com tanta frequência este belo artigo da moda ainda esse ano. Quem sabe no ano que vem a moda passa da praia para as ruas? o.O

No... it’s the ‘facekini’ the new accessory of the Chinese summer!

As I mentioned before, Chinese (and Asian) girls in general hate sun and tan. The sun barely comes out and they already have their umbrellas, newspaper or whatever is in their reach to protect themselves from this big monster that invades Planet Earth everyday… I, on the other hand, really enjoy the warmth of the sunlight, especially after spending the whole day under the air conditioner at my office, which is freezing to say the least!

Of course, too much sun can be dangerous for your health. And I must say that I’m also not a big fan of some of the little Brazilian thongs bikinis (ew!). But the facekini takes it all to a whole new level! Here in Hong Kong is quite normal to see girls on the beach swimming in shorts and t-shirts so they can cover any indecent parts and not to get tanned. But I was freaked out when I saw two ladies using facekinis. It’s too bizarre and it doesn’t seem comfortable at all! They indeed looked like two robbers or something that decided to take a swim after robbing the bank, hehehe.

What I heard is that here in Asia, having tanned skin means that you are a peasant, getting sunburned by working in the fields the whole day. While that if you are whiter it means that you are rich and don’t need to stay out in the sun. Or even that the Chinese don’t want to be associated with their southeast Thai and Filipino neighbors, whose population have naturally tanned skin, and unfortunately are still seen as ‘inferiors’ by many locals.

And here you go: another example of the completely different things that Chinese culture values in comparison to the Brazilian culture. Unfortunately the summer is coming to an end, so it won’t be possible to see this unique accessory so frequently. But who knows, perhaps next year people will start using facekinis on the street? o.O
